How it's made

Handcrafted. From start to finish.

At Norderhaven, every product is made entirely by hand. Not partially, not just the finishing touches, but the entire process.

I do not use a leather sewing machine. Every line is marked by hand, every hole is punched by hand one by one, and every stitch is sewn by hand using the traditional saddle stitch.

A saddle stitch is more than just a method of sewing. The thread is passed through each individual hole using two needles, locking every single stitch in place. While a machine stitch is constructed differently, the saddle stitch creates a strong, durable bond that is well-suited for thick leather and products built for years of daily use.

Handcrafted also means that minor variations are allowed to exist. A subtle difference in the grain of the leather, a small imperfection, or a trace of the crafting process makes every piece unique. These are not things I try to conceal, but part of the character of a product genuinely made by a pair of hands.
